Katharine the great white shark has left the Treasure Coast and popped up for a lunchtime look-see off Boynton Beach Thursday.
The 14-foot, 2,300-pound great white shark has been swimming south along Florida’s coast, tracked with a device attached to her dorsal fin by researchers at OCEARCH. Katharine has traveled more than 3,600 miles since she was tagged in August off Massachusetts.
Monday morning, she was tracked heading straight toward Sebastian and turned back south at 5 p.m., coming within a couple hundred yards of Sebastian Inlet Park.
The OCEARCH team captures and tags great whites around the world and tracks their movements.
